Okeho, Oyo State – June 21, 2025 – In a bold step toward strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector and improving rural livelihoods, Baay Agro convened the Okeho Smallholder Farmer Summit with the theme: “From Farm to Market: Unlocking Opportunities for Rural Prosperity.” The summit brought together over 300 smallholder farmers, agricultural experts, and key stakeholders to explore transformative pathways for enhancing agricultural productivity, climate-smart practices, and market access.

Speaking at the event, Baay Agro emphasized its mission to empower smallholder farmers with practical solutions that drive food security, income growth, and rural development. The farmers were trained on climate-smart agriculture, advanced farm management techniques, and technology adoption to boost crop yields, reduce post-harvest losses, and optimize farm efficiency.

To ensure immediate impact, Baay Agro distributed improved seedlings and high-quality farm inputs to participants. This hands-on support will enable farmers to translate their new knowledge into practice, driving both productivity and profitability in the current planting season. A major highlight of the summit was the Market Access Forum, which connected farmers with opportunities beyond their local communities. Through capacity-building sessions, farmers learned strategies for negotiating better prices, establishing direct links with buyers, and tapping into regional and national value chains.

“This summit is not just about farming, it is about unlocking prosperity for rural communities,” said Engineer Segun Adegoke, MD/CEO of BAAY AGRO. “When farmers are equipped with the right knowledge, inputs, and access to markets, they become catalysts for economic growth and food security in Nigeria.”

The Okeho Smallholder Farmer Summit underlines Baay Agro’s unwavering commitment to rural empowerment, gender inclusion, and sustainable agriculture. By bridging the gap between farm production and market opportunities, Baay Agro is positioning smallholder farmers as key players in Nigeria’s economic transformation.

As agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, initiatives like this summit demonstrate how strategic interventions can uplift rural communities, reduce poverty, and strengthen national food systems.

Baay Agro continues to call on development partners, impact investors, and stakeholders to join hands in scaling these initiatives, ensuring that no farmer is left behind in the journey toward prosperity.
